Focus on the Wildly Important!

(What matters most to you?)

It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of the demands our day brings:

Emails, texts, projects and deadlines…

These are all demands from others that are shoved at us at all times of the day. You can almost feel the weight of the little notification bubbles impatiently awaiting our immediate response.

It doesn’t take long before we are in the mode of reacting instead of acting.

TAKE 5!

Take 5 minutes before you start your day- DON’T, DON’T, DON’T open your email or social media yet! They have been waiting all night, and they can wait another 5 minutes. This 1st 5 minutes is yours!

What is the one thing that matters most to you?
What is the big picture, ultimate goal you want for your life?
What is wildly important?

When you start with the wildly important, everything else will fall into the right perspective, and you can begin taking on the other tasks one at a time.

Make a list of all of the other tasks you have for the day. Writing them out helps clear your head and you feel less overwhelmed.

If I have an exceptionally long to-do list that day, I’ve found that starting with the quickest and easiest ones helps jump-start my productivity when I don’t feel like starting. I feel accomplished, and realize that the list isn’t as daunting as it looks.

As the day goes on, remind yourself to focus on the wildly important.

Each decision you make should be in alignment towards the wildly important. Remember, you’re either moving forward or backward- there is no in-between. Even if you’re not moving fast, just make sure you’re headed in the right direction by asking yourself if it’s moving you closer or farther from the wildly important.
